To change the font color for text in a cell, you have the choice of using the Format Menu or the Formatting Toolbar.
Using the Format Menu
Select the cells where you want to change the font color.
Choose Format-->Cells.
Choose Font Tab in the Dialog Box and then select a color from the Color: dropdown palette.

Using the Formatting Toolbar
Select the cells, where you want to change the font color.
Look
for the Font Color button
in the Formatting Toolbar.
Click on the button if you want to select the most recently used color (red in this case, as displayed by the button), or
Click the arrow next to the button and select a color from the dropdown palette.
To change the fill color or background color of cells, use the Format Menu or the Formatting Toolbar.
Using the Format Menu
Select the cells, where you want to change the fill color.
Choose Format-->Cells
Choose the Patterns Tab in the Dialog Box and then select a color from the palette.

Using the Formatting Toolbar
Select the cells, where you want to change the font color.
Look
for the Fill Color button
in the Formatting Toolbar.
Click on the button if you want to select the most recently used color (yellow in this case, as displayed by the button), or
Click the arrow next to the button and select a color from the dropdown palette.
